CHICAGO — A fire claimed the life of an elderly man on the Northwest Side Monday afternoon.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, they received reports of a fire with a person trapped inside on the 5000 block of N. Kerbs Avenue in Sauganash just before 2 p.m. Monday.
The first firefighters on the scene conducted a search of the home and found the body of a 90-year-old man who had suffered severe burns and was already deceased.
An elderly woman was able to get out of the house by herself and is unharmed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.
